Return Labiaplasty in Seoul: Less Pain, Faster Recovery
Return Labiaplasty was developed through experience with more than 5,000 labiaplasty procedures.
Surgical tools are selected according to each patient’s tissue characteristics to minimize unnecessary damage.
Ultra-fine internal sutures help create a smooth finish with minimal visible stitch marks.
Patients can gently wash the surgical area starting the following day.
Postoperative radiofrequency care helps manage swelling and support tissue recovery.
Many women are concerned about enlarged or asymmetrical labia minora and wonder what they can do about it.
After performing more than 5,000 labiaplasty procedures at our clinic, we developed a technique called Return Labiaplasty,
for which a trademark application has been filed.
Today, I would like to explain the goals behind this surgical approach,
the details we focus on, and how our experience and techniques have developed over time.
Designed to Minimize Pain and Support a Faster Return to Daily Life
Return Labiaplasty is an incision-based surgical procedure, so it cannot be completely painless.
However, our goal is to minimize discomfort and help patients return to their everyday lives as quickly as possible.
Personally, I do not like seeing patients in pain.
Throughout my career as an OB-GYN, I have helped deliver more than 6,000 babies.
Each time I saw a mother suffering through labor, I felt deeply concerned for her.
Of course, childbirth often has the rewarding and joyful ending of welcoming a beautiful baby.
Even so, after witnessing patients in pain for so many years,
I continued to think carefully about how I could make surgical procedures less painful.
Why Postoperative Care Matters
Care after surgery is just as important as the procedure itself.
I wanted patients to be able to wash and move around soon after surgery.
In modern daily life, being told that you cannot wash for several days after a procedure can be extremely uncomfortable.
Even going just one day without washing your hair can feel frustrating.
To help patients return to their routines sooner, we carefully align healthy skin tissue immediately after the incision.
The natural epithelialization process begins within approximately 12 hours,
allowing patients to gently wash the area starting the following day.
Patients do not need to remain lying down or avoid all movement after labiaplasty.
In fact, we ask patients to sit normally even on the day of surgery.
During postoperative guidance, we often tell them, “You should not remain lying down all day.”
Many patients are surprised to find that they can sit more comfortably than expected.
Radiofrequency Care for Recovery
We also place great importance on postoperative recovery care.
Many home-care products are now available, including LED devices.
We do not believe patients should have to visit the clinic simply to receive a type of care that can easily be performed at home.
Instead, we provide direct treatment to the surgical area using radiofrequency equipment commonly used in rehabilitation medicine.
The gentle warmth and energy delivered to the tissue help support its electrolyte balance, promote lymphatic and blood circulation,
assist with waste removal, and encourage collagen regeneration.
Many patients report that, with proper postoperative care, they are able to resume their daily activities without significant difficulty.
What Makes Return Labiaplasty Different?
1. Customized Incisions Using Multiple Surgical Tools
We use a combination of incision tools and create an individualized surgical design based on each patient’s tissue characteristics.
Depending on the tissue, we may use a laser, a surgical scalpel without thermal damage, or a lifting laser.
By selecting and combining these tools appropriately, we aim to minimize unnecessary tissue damage.
2. Ultra-Fine Internal Suturing Technique
Our Return Labiaplasty technique also incorporates an ultra-fine suturing method developed through extensive surgical experience.
Because the sutures and stitch marks are barely visible, some patients have even asked whether the area was actually sutured.
The sutures are placed internally without external knots.
Carefully adjusting their direction and tension is one of the most important aspects of our technique after the labial tissue has been trimmed.
The direction and tension of each suture matter so much that I sometimes joke that perhaps I studied vectors
and mathematics so diligently as a teenager in preparation for performing labiaplasty.
We have spent a great deal of time refining this method so that the surgical area can look smooth from the beginning,
even immediately after suturing.
3. Gentle Washing from the Following Day
Another advantage is the convenience of postoperative care.
Patients can gently wash the area and begin sitz baths starting the day after surgery.
Some patients feel nervous about touching or washing the surgical site.
However, the vulvar area needs to be kept clean, especially after urination or bowel movements.
Gently rinsing it with water is often the simplest and cleanest approach.
Our surgical and postoperative care methods are designed to make this possible.
4. Radiofrequency Regenerative Care
Postoperative radiofrequency care helps manage swelling while supporting circulation and collagen regeneration.
This aftercare is provided to make the recovery process more comfortable and help patients return to their routines sooner.
Expected Recovery Timeline
Based on our postoperative guidance, the general recovery timeline is as follows:
- After 2 days: Many patients can commute to work. Patients visiting from overseas may also be able to resume their schedules.
- After 1 week: Activities such as golf or Pilates may be possible.
- After 2 weeks: Sexual activity, swimming, bathing, and most forms of exercise may generally be resumed.
Recovery time can vary depending on the extent of surgery, individual tissue condition, and healing progress.
Patients should resume each activity only after receiving personalized postoperative guidance from their doctor.
A Technique Refined Through More Than 20 Years of Experience
This does not mean that our surgical method is the only good option.
Every surgical technique has its own advantages and limitations.
Over more than 20 years, I have tried and studied various surgical approaches.
Return Labiaplasty was developed by continually identifying areas for improvement and refining the details that we believe matter most.
I wanted to explain why we ultimately developed this approach, which benefits we value, and the mindset behind our continued efforts to improve the procedure.
Is Return Labiaplasty Right for You?
Return Labiaplasty may be of interest to women who value reduced discomfort and a faster return to everyday life.
If enlarged labia minora cause frequent friction, wounds, irritation, or recurrent inflammation,
you may have spent a long time wondering how these concerns can be improved.
Understanding what your surgeon prioritizes and how the procedure is performed is important
when deciding whether labiaplasty is right for you.
We hope this information helps anyone considering surgery make a more informed and comfortable decision.
