Vaginal Pressure Test and Personalized Treatment: Vaginal Laser vs. Fi…

Vaginal pressure, elasticity, internal space, and areas of volume loss can vary from person to person.

A physical examination and objective measurements help determine which treatment may be appropriate.

Vaginal laser treatment, fillers, or surgery may be considered depending on symptoms such as laxity, dryness, or recurrent vaginitis.

We assess vaginal pressure and examine the internal vaginal space, elasticity, and areas where volume loss may be more noticeable.

In this article, we will show you how this assessment is performed, how a personalized treatment plan is recommended,

and what the procedure involves.

Every patient is different.

Each patient has different concerns and symptoms. The vaginal environment and objective measurement results can also vary considerably.

After evaluating these factors, we recommend the treatment considered most suitable for each patient.

At our clinic, vaginal laser treatments, vaginal fillers, and surgical options may be considered for concerns such as vaginal laxity, dryness, and recurrent vaginitis.

Let us take a closer look at the consultation and treatment process of a patient who previously underwent vaginal pressure testing.

Reviewing the Vaginal Pressure Test Results

The patient underwent vaginal pressure testing, and we reviewed the results together.

The standard vaginal pressure value was considered to be approximately 53 on this particular assessment.

The patient’s result was 76.6, objectively indicating greater internal vaginal laxity.

Vaginal elasticity is generally considered to fall within a range of approximately 10 to 20 on this assessment.

The patient’s result was 22.1, suggesting a slight decrease in elasticity.

Because the patient was around 50 years old, age-related changes may have contributed to the reduced elasticity.

She had also noticed more laxity and less elasticity than before.

For pelvic floor contraction strength, a value above 30 was considered within the normal range,

while a result above 40 was considered good. Her pelvic floor contraction strength was not significantly reduced.

The test results showed that the patient’s main concern was not severe widening

at the vaginal opening but greater laxity deeper inside the vagina.

We therefore recommended continuing Kegel exercises while also considering treatment to improve the internal vaginal space.

Vaginal Laser Treatment for Internal Laxity

During the physical examination, the vaginal opening was not particularly wide.

However, a greater degree of laxity was observed deeper inside the vagina.

For this reason, a treatment such as Viveve, which works more broadly within the vagina, or another vaginal laser treatment could be considered.

The appropriate treatment should be determined by examining where vaginal laxity is most pronounced

—not simply by looking at the vaginal opening.

Vaginal Fillers for Areas of Volume Loss

During the examination, more significant volume loss was observed along the right posterior vaginal wall.

The area at the six o’clock position also appeared to have some volume loss.

Vaginal fillers may be considered to supplement these specific areas.

A collagen-based filler can be injected into selected points inside the vagina.

This may provide a fuller internal sensation and a greater feeling of tightness.

As part of the Delight Program, the filler volume and injection points are determined according to the patient’s examination results.

Vaginal fillers are not injected in exactly the same way for every patient.

The volume and injection points should be tailored to the areas identified during the examination.

Changes Around Menopause

Because this patient was approaching menopause, vaginal dryness and recurrent vaginitis also needed to be considered.

As the vaginal tissue becomes thinner and weaker, atrophic vaginitis may develop.

Sexual sensation may also decrease around menopause, while the vaginal walls and folds may gradually become flatter and more lax.

Treatments designed to strengthen the vaginal mucosa and support collagen production may

therefore be considered depending on the patient’s condition.

The Vaginal Filler Procedure

The patient decided to receive an additional vaginal filler procedure.

We identified the areas where she wanted improvement and the areas where volume loss had been observed during the examination,

and then supplemented those specific points.

The procedure may be performed under local anesthesia to minimize discomfort.

Sedation may also be used, and the procedure generally takes approximately 10 to 20 minutes.

Do Any of These Concerns Sound Familiar?

Many women experience these concerns but find them difficult to discuss, even with close friends.

You may notice:

  • More vaginal laxity than before
  • Vaginal air during exercise or sexual activity
  • Increased vaginal dryness
  • A looser internal sensation
  • Reduced sexual sensation with aging
  • Laxity felt deeper inside or around the vaginal opening

Vaginal laxity, dryness, and volume loss do not appear in the same way for everyone.

Objective testing and a detailed examination can help identify where the changes are occurring and guide a personalized treatment plan.

We hope this explanation helps those who have been experiencing similar concerns.
