Vaginal PRP Treatment: Benefits for Dryness, Sexual Function & Menopau…

Today, I’d like to talk about PRP treatment, which has been gaining increasing attention recently.

What Is PRP Treatment?

PRP stands for Platelet-Rich Plasma.

The treatment involves drawing a small amount of your own blood,

processing it to concentrate platelets and growth factors,

and then injecting the PRP into the area where tissue regeneration is desired.

PRP has been widely used in areas such as facial skin and hair treatments.

More recently, it has also been applied to women’s intimate health.

I have recently incorporated PRP treatment into both skin and vaginal treatments,

and today I’d like to explain who may benefit from vaginal PRP treatment.

1. Vaginal Dryness and Pain During Intercourse

Women experiencing vaginal dryness may also experience discomfort or pain during sexual intercourse.

PRP treatment is intended to support tissue regeneration and collagen production in the treated area.

By improving the condition of vaginal tissue, it may help alleviate dryness and discomfort during intercourse.

2. Reduced Sexual Sensation

PRP treatment may also be considered for women who are concerned about decreased sexual sensation.

Because PRP contains concentrated platelets and growth factors involved in tissue repair,

it is used with the aim of supporting tissue and nerve-related recovery.

PRP may also be combined with vaginal laser or energy-based treatments depending on the individual’s condition.

One treatment commonly discussed in this context is the O-Shot,

which involves the use of PRP in intimate areas to address concerns related to sexual function.

3. Recurrent Vaginitis

For women who frequently experience vaginitis, maintaining a healthy vaginal environment is important.

PRP may be used with the aim of supporting local tissue health and recovery.

However, recurrent vaginitis can have many different causes,

so appropriate examination and treatment of the underlying cause should come first rather than relying on PRP alone.

4. Mild Urinary Incontinence or Urgency

PRP may also be considered for women experiencing mild urinary leakage or urinary urgency.

The treatment is intended to support tissue regeneration around the vaginal and periurethral areas.

Depending on the cause and severity of urinary symptoms, however, additional evaluation or other treatments may be necessary.

5. Vaginal Changes After Menopause

After menopause, declining estrogen levels can cause the vaginal mucosa to become thinner, drier, and more fragile.

Some women may also experience discomfort during intercourse or changes in sexual sensation.

PRP and other regenerative approaches may be used with the goal of supporting vaginal tissue health and collagen remodeling.

Rather than simply focusing on appearance, the aim is to help maintain healthier vaginal tissue as women experience age-related changes.

How Many PRP Sessions Are Needed?

The appropriate number of sessions can vary depending on the individual’s condition and treatment goals.

Rather than relying on a single treatment, multiple sessions may sometimes be considered. In our clinical practice,

a course of approximately 3 to 5 sessions may be recommended depending on the patient’s individual needs and response to treatment.

PRP is already used in several medical and aesthetic fields, including skin and hair treatments.

When appropriately applied to women’s intimate health, vaginal PRP may be considered as one of several treatment options

for concerns such as vaginal dryness, discomfort during intercourse, reduced sexual sensation, and age-related vaginal changes.

Because symptoms and underlying causes differ from person to person,

it is important to receive an appropriate gynecological evaluation before deciding whether PRP treatment is suitable for you.
